In the past few days my class have been watching Ted Talks and making presentation about them. One group in particular did a presentation on the Ted Talk called: To This Day... for the bullied and beautiful By: Shaun Koyczan. The reason why I'm choosing to talk about this video is because just listening to Shaun's story and hearing about how he felt about being bullied as well as seeing people bully others. Shaun voice was very interesting to listen to. Shaun told his audience about his story. Shaun had mentioned in his ted talk that he remember having to go throw people giving you names and making fun of you but he also mentioned how ever since he could remember people were asking him what he wanted to be when he was older and what he wanted to do with his life and he said he was told that he had to chose a carrer path. The thing that Shaun said that really stood out for me was "they asked me what i wanted to be then told me what not to be" another thing he had said "accept the identy that others will give me and I thought what gave my dreams so easy to dismis" these two sentences really got to me because its true, it really is true. I know people in my life tell me that i can do anything i want and be anything i want as long as i worked for it. now those are the people closest to me other people maybe at school or out in the world. when you were in kindergarten were you ever asked what you wanted to be, by your teacher or a friend and did they ever laugh at you or say thats a nice dream to have. I'm not saying that, that has been said to be me but I have heard it. the other thing that Shaun said about acepting the identy that others give you, in a way I find this true because when people around you call you names or tell you that you wont be able to do that. after you hear this over and over and over again it becomes true you start to believe it dont denine it.
